Standing guard to the entrance of Tehran is the stunning Azadi Tower ( Freedom Tower ). Built in 1971 in commemoration of the 2500th anniversary of the Persian Empire. Architect, Hossein Amanat, won a competition to design the monument using elements of Sassanid and Islamic architecture. It is comprised of 8000 marble blocks from the Isfahan region and stands 50 feet tall.
This tower will take the breath away from anyone who approaches. Day or night, Azadi Tower will not let you feeling disappointed. Below the tower there is a museum consisting of potteries, ceramics, porcelains etc dating back to the 19th century, Iran’s history. Out side of the tower is endless land with beautiful gardens and fountains.
