I had the great honour of attending The 24th Hand-Made Persian Carpet Exhibition. It was a 7 day event, brimming with more than 700 Iranian carpet producers and exporters. Merchants from across the globe attend this exhibition with desire to import these highly impressive carpets. Some worth more than $5000 dollars. Iran’s hand woven carpet export, stood at $330 million in the past year and are exported to some 70 countries across the world.
History dates Persian carpets as far back to 2,500 years ago and have adorned palaces, museums and highly private homes; throughout the world. Consisting of premium and luxuriant silks and wool, creating delicate designs and of the finest quality; these carpets are admired by many.
To footprint the history of Persian carpets is to pursue a path of cultural growth of one of the greatest civilisations the world has ever seen. Persian carpets are magnificent pieces of art work and make every Iranian’s home full of warmth.
